UNA Highlands and Islands

About
Having recently been created, the UNA Highlands and Islands branch is a branch committed to furthering the UN Goals in Scotland's Highlands and Islands.
Activities
In collaboration with UNHS, to produce digital visualisations to showcase progress on the Sustainable Development Goals at local authority levels, UNA Highlands and islands created a summer exhibition that was showcased across Orkney.
The exhibition consisted of 17 pop-up banners loaned from the Scotland-Malawi Partnership, showcasing joint projects for each SDG. UNA Highlands and Islands created 2 additional pop up banners to provide wider contextual information about sustainable development, including a visualisation of all 169 targets.
In addition to the exhibition, UNAHI and a local fuel poverty charity, THAW Orkney, hosted a workshop by researchers at Strathclyde University exploring potential links between Net Zero projects, just transition and fuel and transport poverty. We look forward to continuing work around local planning and the SDGs in the coming year.
